Job Title: Project Manager – Academic Block Construction university (Public Sector Development Project)

Overview: Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) invites applications from qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Project Manager for the implementation of the Public Sector Development Project titled “Construction of Academic Block for SZABMU (PSDP) Finance Project.” This project aims to enhance the infrastructure of SZABMU, contributing to the advancement of medical education and research.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Execution:
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets for the construction of the academic block in alignment with project objectives and specifications.
- Oversee the entire construction process, ensuring adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to facilitate smooth project execution and timely completion within budget constraints.
- Budget and Resource Management:
- Manage project budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure efficient utilization of allocated funds.
- Procure necessary materials, equipment, and services required for the construction project while maintaining cost-effectiveness and quality assurance.
- Optimize resource allocation and workflow to maximize productivity and minimize delays.
- Stakeholder Coordination:
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, including university management, faculty members, and administrative staff, to communicate project updates, solicit feedback, and address concerns.
- Collaborate with relevant government agencies, regulatory bodies, and external partners to obtain necessary approvals, permits, and clearances for project implementation.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Implement robust quality control measures to ensure that construction activities meet prescribed standards and specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and assessments to identify and rectify any deviations, defects, or deficiencies in construction work.
- Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, regulations, and environmental sustainability guidelines.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare comprehensive progress reports, status updates, and financial statements for project stakeholders, including university management, funding agencies, and oversight bodies.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and archives related to project activities, contracts, invoices, and correspondence.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Architecture, Project Management, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Proven experience in project management, preferably in large-scale construction projects within the public sector or educational institutions.
- Strong technical knowledge of construction principles, methods, materials, and practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Familiarity with public procurement procedures and regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- PMP or PRINCE2 certification would be an advantage.
